Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Writer to join our team. As a key member of the RMF team, you will develop and maintain technical documentation in support of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process. Your work will involve creating and managing RMF templates and documentation used throughout Authorization to Operate (ATO) packages, ensuring compliance with security standards and guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for RMF contracts, utilizing various directives, policies, and guidelines (NIST, SECNAV, ANSI, OPNAV, and CJCSI).
  • Create documents in Microsoft Office formats (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and Adobe (PDF).
  • Ensure that documentation meets security requirements, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) levels, and addresses all security control baselines and overlays.
  • Address all Critical Control Items (CCIs) within each security control family, outlining the requirements for compliant, non-compliant, and not applicable statuses.
  • Collaborate with the ISSM (or their designated team member) and Technical Assistant (TA) to ensure drafts are reviewed and approved.
  • Oversee the distribution and storage of technical documents, ensuring access for the appropriate personnel as directed. Carry out any other related activities as required, ensuring flexibility and adaptability in meeting the evolving needs of the company.


Clearance Level:

  • Current or ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance is required. Note: To obtain a security clearance, you must be a US citizen and meet the 13 adjudicative guidelines.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a technical writer or editor.
  • Familiarity with the RMF process according to the Navy RMF Process Guide (RPG).

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Business, English, Technical Writing, or a related field is preferred, but we value equivalent experience and skills from a variety of backgrounds just as much.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and grammatical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Ability to present complex data in clear, concise text.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Location & Commitments:

  • Position: Full-Time
  • Work Arrangement: This is a remote position, but we prefer candidates located within a six-hour driving radius of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, to facilitate periodic meetings.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel to the client site is required for approximately two to five days every two to three months.
  • Work Hours: A typical workday consists of eight hours, totaling a forty-hour workweek. We understand that there may be times when employees will need to adjust their work hours due to client needs or personal reasons. To help balance these demands, we offer some flexibility in work schedules.
