Position Summary

We're looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team! In this role, you'll handle essential financial accounting tasks while ensuring compliance with guidelines, client needs, and regulatory requirements. You will have limited access to Protected Health Information and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) as needed for your role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, and revenue summaries.
Distribute monthly financial statements, investigate and resolve income statement discrepancies, and address branch inquiries and requests.
Audit financial statements in preparation for outside auditor reviews.
Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring internal accounting systems, policies, and procedures to maintain regulatory and reporting compliance.
Handle accrual accounting functions, including preparing and analyzing journal entries and financial statements.
Prepare financial statements and schedules for auditors, along with various management reports.
Act as the initial point of contact for questions and issues related to account reconciliations and financial reporting.
Review and monitor assigned accounts to ensure appropriate funding, and direct cash transfers as necessary.
File 941 and 945 forms and ensure timely 990 and 5500 filings.
Perform other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
At least one year of experience in an accounting role.
Strong understanding of common accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency with accounting software.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
Exceptional customer service skills and effective communication with all organizational levels.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (intermediate to advanced level).
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a third-party administrator, insurance, or health and welfare environment.
Prior experience with Taft-Hartley trust administration.
