The Certification Unit Teams at CalRecycle are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual that wants to work in a multi-tasking environment!

Under the direction of the Recycling Specialist III (Supervisory), the Program Technician II is primarily responsible for daily collection, processing, and dissemination of certification applications. The incumbent is responsible for initial information gathering and database searches for certification application processing. The incumbent will need to identify issues, problems, and resolutions with incoming information on applications; and perform data entry and process applications received for certification and management of beverage container recycling program participants; and interact with customers via phone and email on a daily basis.

Bilingual-Spanish desired but not required.

Pending Budget Approval

This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.

Special Requirements

The incumbent will need to be able to bend, stoop, or kneel to file documents and retrieve files to review casework; have the ability to stand or sit to be able to use the computer, attend meetings, and travel in vehicles or airplanes for extended periods; lift up to 25 pounds to move file room boxes to retrieve files; and be able to continuously concentrate to perform data entry into a database system.

• Excellent customer service skills;
• Database experience – Oracle or Access experience a plus;
• General clerical experience; High attention to detail;
• Open-minded and flexible to ot her ideas and solutions;
• Bilingual-Spanish desired but not required;
• Excellent communication skills.
