IT Product Owner

As an IT Product Owner, you'll be a ccountable for collaboratively creating the product vision and alignment with strategic priorities with business stakeholders and IT leadership. You will own and maintain the product backlog and is accountable for its contents and prioritizing based on business value and required technical or architectural needs. You will set expectations with stakeholders for delivery of new capabilities or features by creating a product roadmap.

 

Represents the “voice of the customer” to the delivery team. Accountable for clear, actionable user stories and comprehensive acceptance criteria. Communicates daily with the agile delivery team clarifying requirements and alignment with product strategy. Helps to remove impediments to delivery success. Responsibilities:

  • Establish and sustain strong on-going relationships with IT and business partners; Collaborate with IT partner organizations, vendors, and business stakeholders to establish product vision/roadmaps and deliver solutions that provide business value and meet business needs.
  • Creates and maintains the prioritized product backlog for all products assigned. Collects requirements and translates them into epics, features, and user stories. Defines comprehensive acceptance criteria. Establishes backlog priority based on business value and delivery team input.
  • Communicates daily with the delivery team to clarify requirements and answer questions. Participates in all SCRUM ceremonies. Prepares for and leads the backlog refinement sessions. Accepts or rejects user stories based on demonstration of acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinates across the global business teams and facilitates User Acceptance testing. Coordinates with delivery team to implement accepted features in regular releases to the business maximizing business value and solution quality.
  • Product evangelist, communicating solution value to the organization and conducting demos of the solutions to showcase product features, organizational value, business benefits.
  • Contributes to organizational budget management and solution delivery planning and execution.
  • Responsible for product solutions and delivery against defined roadmaps. Will provide input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. Will be expected to give input into developing the budget based on solution roadmaps. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Has a B.S. or M.S in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems and has worked in a lead business analyst or application development leadership role on cross-functional software development projects for at least 5 years. Has comprehensive knowledge of agile delivery frameworks and is a certified product owner with practical delivery experience is a plus. 
  • Competencies will include experience across all facets of the application development lifecycle, with critical ability to translate vague requirements into proper detailed level user stories and acceptance criteria. Candidate should be consultative and expert at problem solving.
  • Previous experience as a product owner or as a lead BA in an agile delivery environment and delivering large enterprise systems successfully. Candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to influence others.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with Microsoft SQL Server is preferred
  • Desire to work in a team-based environment
  • Detail oriented, results-driven, must be able to produce in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and Software Design Principles
