Job Description

Job Summary: The HR Specialist is responsible for performing a variety of HR-related duties on a professional level, working closely with HR management to support multiple areas within the department. These areas include recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance. The HR Specialist is expected to have a strong understanding of HR practices and provide expertise in specific HR functions to ensure smooth and effective HR operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:

    • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and coordinating with hiring managers.
    • Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future openings.
    • Conduct reference checks, prepare offer letters, and facilitate the onboarding process for new hires.
  2. Employee Relations:

    • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employment laws.
    • Assist in resolving employee relations issues and conduct investigations as needed.
    • Promote a positive work environment by supporting conflict resolution and fostering open communication.
  3. Benefits Administration:

    • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
    • Coordinate open enrollment and communicate benefits information to employees.
    • Address employee benefits inquiries and liaise with benefits providers to resolve issues.
  4. Performance Management:

    • Assist in the development and implementation of performance management programs, including goal setting, performance reviews, and feedback processes.
    • Support managers in addressing performance issues and implementing performance improvement plans (PIPs).
    • Ensure consistency and fairness in the application of performance management practices.
  5. Compliance and Reporting:

    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
    • Prepare and submit HR-related reports, such as EEO-1, VETS-4212, and other compliance filings as required.
  6. Training and Development:

    • Identify training needs and assist in the development and delivery of training programs for employees.
    • Coordinate logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, communication, and tracking attendance.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  7. HR Projects and Initiatives:

    • Participate in the planning and execution of HR projects and initiatives, such as employee engagement programs, diversity and inclusion efforts, and process improvements.
    • Collaborate with HR team members to develop and implement new HR policies and procedures.
    • Support the implementation of HR technology and systems.
  8. HR Data and Analytics:

    • Analyze HR data and metrics to identify trends, inform decision-making, and support strategic planning.
    • Generate reports and provide insights to HR leadership on key HR indicators such as turnover, employee engagement, and retention.
    • Ensure data integrity within HR systems and databases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an HR role, with expertise in one or more HR functions.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resource Information System) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.
