Position Information: UCR Health is a team of physicians, specialists and healthcare professionals dedicated to improving the health of inland southern California residents and families by bringing health home to our communities.
The Epic Ambulatory Application Analyst will be responsible to implement, build, maintain and optimize Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system with a focus on ambulatory, orders and workflows with an additional focus on registration, scheduling, check-in, and referrals. Analyst must have knowledge of the Epic EMR software, operations and workflow, and work closely with the clinical operations team and the UCR Community Connect team to translate business needs into EMR functionality. The analyst is expected to have Epic knowledge and build expertise in orders, charge capture and general ambulatory applications. Analyst is expected to be able to work with clinicians and staff to translate workflows to Epic functionality, identify gaps, provide mutually agreeable solutions to close workflow gaps. Involves design, building, testing, and implementation of clinical application systems. Provides support to clinical users through knowledge of clinical processes, documentation needs, workflows, and clinical practice standards, when adapting software to meet their needs. Works with clinicians to create or adapt written protocols. Prepares detailed specs encompassing clinical processes, information flow, risk and impact analysis. May provide customer service, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
The full salary range for the EPIC Ambulatory Application Analyst is $96,700 - $184,100 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $140,400 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
As a university employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.
Requirements: Educational Requirements - Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
Required Conditions
- A total of ten (10) years of directly related experience cab be considered in lieu of the bachelor degree requirement.
Required Experience Requirements
- Must have relevant system analyst experience with experience and proven success in EMR build, implementation, maintenance, and optimization within a healthcare organization.
Required - 6 - 10 years of related experience.
Required - Demonstrated experience as a major participant in a clinical system implementation.
Preferred - Experience supporting ambulatory clinics.
Preferred Certification Requirements
CertificationRequirement - Must obtain certification in primary Epic EMR module(s) within four (4) months of initial hire. Must maintain current certification for primary Epic Ambulatory EMR module(s) as a condition of employment
Required - EPIC Certification in Cadence, Prelude, Referrals and Welcome.
Preferred Special Conditions
Special - Must pass a background check.

Required - Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Required - Must be able to drive frequently to UCR Health clinical sites
Preferred Minimum Requirements
- Broadly encompassing or highly In-depth knowledge of 1-2 areas of focus in clinical applications specialty area(s).Knowledge of operations, systems and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.
- Ability to apply advanced problem-resolution skills to highly complex issues, quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Advanced interpersonal communication skills to effectively train, support, and collaborate productively with clinical users and key stakeholders at all professional and technical levels.
- Advanced organizational and project management skills, and ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule.
- Advanced written and verbal communications skills, to convey highly-technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical users and staff in a specific, clear, and concise manner.
- Advanced analytical skills and expertise in documentation and reporting, with the ability to apply metrics, plan and implement testing systems, collect and analyze performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses for management use.
- Advanced ability to serve as a technical leader and information resource, and to work collaboratively with key personnel and management, providing guidance and recommendations on systems, improvements, upgrades, and industry advances and trends. Additional Information:
