The Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) is currently recruiting for a LACRU Technician within the Enforcement Division's Licensee & Application Case Review (LACRU) Unit.

Under the general direction of Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) Program Tech III supervisor, the PT III position is responsible for requesting, receiving and processing criminal court documents, law enforcement reports, and other documentation.

Working Conditions

This job is a full-time office position located in Natomas with free parking.  Teleworking is not available.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

Title 11, section 703 (d) of the California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI).  Pursuant to this requirement, applicants for this position will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring.  In accordance to DCA’s CORI procedures, clearance shall be maintained while employed in a CORI-designated position.

The position routinely works with sensitive and confidential issues and/or materials and is expected to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of documents and topics pertaining to individuals or to sensitive program matters at all times.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

The incumbent should possess good oral and written communication skills; aptitude for investigative work; manage time and workload effectively; and be responsive to BVNPT and Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) management needs.  Regular attendance and punctuality are an essential part of the position.

• Statement of Qualifications -

  A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required, and applicants must include one.  The SOQ is a narrative discussion prepared by the applicant describing how the applicant's knowledge, abilities, education, training, and experience qualify them for the position.  The SOQ serves as documentation of each candidate's ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing.  BVNPT will not consider applicants who fail to provide an SOQ with their application.  Resumes do not take place of the SOQ.  When completing the SOQ please include specific examples and explain your response thoroughly.  Your SOQ should be single spaced with Arial 12pt. font and not be longer than two (2) pages in length.  Do not use bullet points in your response.  Your SOQ must address the following topic:

  Describe how your experience makes you the best candidate for the position.
