Job Description: GDIT is seeking a Data Center Manager to support the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) as well as other institutes within NIH. In this role, you will be part of a team of systems administrators / engineers responsible for directly managing three local datacenters and supporting a fourth remotely.
Work Visa sponsorship will not be provided for this role.
How a Data Center Manager Will Make an Impact: - Collaborate with other members of the Data Center team as well as other operations teams within NIAID to manage and maintain the datacenters according to defined policy
- Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Provide data center support to respond to emergency incidents that affect mission-essential services
- Supervise, engage, and oversee vendors and subcontractors supporting the data centers
- Maintain data center documentation as assigned, including policy and procedure drafts and DCO and DCIM software tools
- Manage and coordinate the installation and maintenance of data center equipment
- Ensure compliance with data center security requirements
- Control data center stocks (i.e. fiber, cables, transfer switches, hardware, tools, and connectors)
- Responsible for racking and stacking of servers and related devices
- Assist in performing root cause analysis for operational issues that occur
- Ensure safety of all personnel/equipment on-site
What You'll Need to Succeed: Education: BS/BA (or equivalent)
Required Experience: Minimum of five years of related experience
Required Technical Skills: - Minimum of five years of experience managing a medium data center
- Experience managing hardware configuration baselines
- Knowledge of power infrastructure layout from generation to rack level, redundancy levels and techniques, rack standards, properties and selection criteria, and power rail/strip options, cold aisle/hot aisle containment, and standards for fire suppression, security and safety
- Experience monitoring environmental sensors and determining issues prior to impact to systems
Security Clearance Level: Must be able to obtain a NIH public trust
Required Skills and Abilities: - Experience with Data Center Strategy, Planning, and Roadmap maintenance
- Experience with Data Center consolidation and cloud environment transition
- Experience establishing goals and plans that meet project objectives
Preferred Skills: - Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP): Covers fundamentals of data center design, management, and operations
- Ability to effectively communicate
- Track record of working effectively within a team
- Ability to lead peers toward improved processes and results

The likely salary range for this position is $116,979 - $144,900. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
