Position Purpose:

Bates Dining, Conferences and Campus Events provides/oversees services for a self-operated student dining program, campus catering, cash dining operations, vending, summer programs, one day programs, major campus events, campus space scheduling and non-student short term housing. The Utility Associate position primarily serves as front line support to student dining, but may be called upon to assist in any other area of the DCCE operation as needed As such, the successful candidate needs to have a basic understanding/skill set in all food service areas to include, but not limited to, culinary, catering, cash operations and receiving and must be able to work independently.

This position calls for someone with the ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures and the demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships with individuals and groups with varying backgrounds, perspectives, education and skills. Ability to work as part of a dynamic team who embraces communication and inclusiveness is essential to the candidates’ success. Exemplary organizational and time management skills, outstanding customer service skills and attention to detail are a must.

Job Duties:

Student Dining

Assist as needed in food stations

Perform front of the house duties: beverage, choices, cereals, cashier, building duties and room set-ups, etc.

Receive and put away stock

Assist in the kitchen

Assist in catering, catering/delivery

Assist in cash operations

Assist in the dishroom

Additional Responsibilities

Ensures that proper sanitation and safety standards are maintained

Promotes and values diversity and practices two-way communication.

Develops an excellent working relationship with other areas of Dining and the institution.

Maintains the highest levels of customer service practices at all times.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Meeting schedule includes monthly Dining, Conferences and Campus Events town meetings and monthly sector meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

High school diploma or equivalent desired

Serve Safe certification preferred

A valid driver's license is preferred

Experience

Previous food service experience desired.

Skills and Knowledge

Strong commitment to customer service.

Exemplary organizational and time management skills are a must

Ability to multitask

Understands and thrives in a high volume food service environment
