Accessibility Resource Office Assistive Technology Specialist Classification Summary: Incumbents perform duties related to the implementation of assistive technology for students with documented disabilities. Responsibilities include coordinating and maintaining assistive technology, assisting students, training staff and faculty on usage of assistive technology, and assisting in the delivery of accommodations to students.
Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience: Associates degree and minimum of three years of directly related experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Concrete knowledge of computer systems, software, and assistive and emerging technologies required. Minimum qualification can be substituted with an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Classification Duties: 1. Coordinate and maintain assistive technology software, to include creating purchasing proposals and licensing agreements; keeping a software inventory; and maintaining the ARO Assistive Technology Service Center in conjunction with the College IT and Online Education departments.
2. Assist students in the ARO Assistive Technology Service Center, to include providing training of assistive technology equipment, helping with computer and software usage, and assisting with CANVAS basics.
3. Train staff and faculty how to use assistive technology equipment. Create and update training manuals.
4. Implement the production of e-text for ARO students. Coordinate and collaborate with publishers and vendors to supply students with accessible educational content and assistive technologies.
5. Assist in the delivery of services to ARO students, to include providing accommodations for testing, such as proctoring, reading, and/or scribing, as well as formatting documents and implementing assistive technology. Document the delivery of services to ARO students as necessary.
6. Assist in the maintaining of ARO records following FERPA and ADA regulations and guidelines.
7. Remain current in the field of Accessibility Resource Office Support Services as it relates to higher education, especially pertaining to assistive technology software and equipment.

Wage/Salary: $19.44 per hour
Status: Full time
If Part-time, hours per week: If Non-exempt, work days: Monday-Friday with occassional attendance of college related evening and weekend events.8am - 4:30pm
